GENERAL INSURANCE CODE OF PRACTICE

The 2020 version of the Code was developed following an extensive review, and was no doubt influenced by the findings of the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry which concluded with final report in early 2019.

The new Code introduces a significant number of new clauses concerning issues such as automatic renewal, premium comparison, pressure selling and consumer credit insurance. There are also 2 entirely new Parts to the code:

- Supporting customers experiencing vulnerability

- Standards for conducting investigations
